As part of its ongoing support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, leading global hygiene and forest products company SCA, in partnership with The Water Supply and Sanitation Collaborative Council (WSSCC), a United Nations entity devoted solely to the sanitation and hygiene needs of the most vulnerable people around the world, announced the launch of a joint research report on hygiene practices worldwide, the Hygiene Matters report. The initiative was established by SCA in 2008 to raise awareness of the connection between hygiene, health and wellbeing.

Seattle, WA -- The Global Sawlog Price Index (GSPI) was up 4.2% in the 2Q/16 to US$71.18/m3, the highest quarter-over-quarter increase since the 2Q/11. Sawlog prices increased in 16 of the 19 regions tracked by the Wood Resource Quarterly (WRQ) and were generally higher in both the local currencies and in US dollar terms. The biggest price increases in dollar terms occurred in Russia, Brazil, Germany and British Columbia. The only regions that experienced lower log prices in the 2Q/16 were Chile, where lumber export markets weakened, and the US Northwest, where log export to Asia slowed down the first few months of the year and the domestic sawmills run at fairly low operating rates.

ANDRITZ receives follow-up order from Naberezhnye Chelny Paper Mill, Russia

Graz, September 20, 2016 -- International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from ZAOR “Narodnoye Predpriyatie Naberezhnye Chelny Paper Mill named after S.P. Titov”, the leading packaging producer in Russia, to upgrade and modernize its PM K-28 paper machine in Chelny. Start-up is scheduled for the first quarter of 2018.

Graz, September 16, 2016. International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from JSC Volga in Balakhna, Nizhegorodskaya oblast, Russia, to deliver a complete state-of-the-art ATMP (Advanced Thermo-mechanical Pulp) line, which will process 100% spruce for the production of soft wood pulp. Start-up of the new line, which will be combined with existing equipment, is scheduled for 2019.

Global Lumber Trade: Demand for softwood lumber has gone up in many markets around the world in 2016, resulting in a substantial increase in global lumber trade. With very few exceptions, the major importing countries have imported more lumber during the first six months this year than they did during the same period in 2015, according to estimates by the Wood Resource Quarterly (WRQ). Higher demand and a weaker US dollar resulted in generally higher lumber prices (in US dollar terms) worldwide in the first half of 2016 than in the 1H/15.

Graz, September 15, 2016 -- International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from Bashundhara Paper Mills Limited, an enterprise of the Bashundhara Group, for supply of a turnkey tissue production line for its mill in Bangladesh. Start-up of the line, which will produce high-quality facial wipes, toilet paper, and napkins, is scheduled for the end of 2017.

HARTSVILLE, S.C., Sept. 15, 2016 -- Sonoco (NYSE:SON) today announced that it will raise the price for all grades of uncoated recycled paperboard (URB) products by $40 to $60 per ton depending on grade, effective with shipments in the United States and Canada, beginning October 3, 2016.

ANDRITZ to convert SC paper machine to produce lightweight containerboard for Heinzel Group in Laakirchen, Austria

Graz, September 13, 2016 -- International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from Heinzel Group to rebuild the PM10 at its Laakirchen paper mill in Austria. As from the third quarter 2017, PM 10, which is currently producing SC paper, will be producing waste paper-based lightweight containerboard. After full conversion, PM 10 will be among the most efficient paper machines in the lightweight containerboard sector with a working width of 7,500 mm and a design speed of 1,600m/m.
