POULSBO, Wash., -- Pope Resources (NASDAQ: POPE) announced today a quarterly distribution of $0.45 per unit, effective for unitholders of record on June 15, 2012 and payable on June 29, 2012. This represents a $0.10, or 29%, increase from the prior quarterly distribution of $0.35 per unit. The Biltube Europe Ltd paper mill located in Saint Didier en Velay remains closed due its lack of cash to buy raw materials although the senior management of the Indian company that owns it are now there and are striving to find a solution. The company’s headquarters in India was relocated to France to enable to obtain bank loans. Discussions are on-going with local, provincial and national elected representatives as its attempts to find a way out of the impasse. According to our contacts the Indian owners highlighted the burden of high power input costs and would like to see preferential conditions on this point.

UPM Raflatac, one of the world’s leading suppliers of self-adhesive labelstock, has signed an agreement to acquire the business operations of Gascogne Laminates Switzerland SA. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The closing of the acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals.
